Hi! My name is Cherry. I’m the girl who writes these stories, and the sole creator thereof. I live in Pittsburgh, which is most of why that’s where this series is set. There’s an adage of “write what you know”, and I strongly believe in it. It’s also something I do to learn a place, and writing this story has done a lot to help me get to know my new home since I moved here. This is typical of me; writing is often something I do to process or examine my own life experiences. There’s a lot about this story and these characters that’s directly drawing on myself and my life for inspiration.
Once you start reading, the implications of that might start to be clearer. Drawing on my life and what I know produces some pretty surreal material, and sometimes some pretty dark material. I have a number of physical and mental oddities, including neurological development that was simultaneously very advanced and very impaired; I’m autistic with strong savant patterns, exceptionally good at some tasks with a particular focus on language, developmentally impaired in other areas. I have a wide range of sensory and cognitive quirks, ranging from strong synesthesia to psychotic paranoia. I have never had a normal life. For better and for worse, I exist at the far end of the bell curve.
